You Know What to Do: Open Your Notebook
We Are Going To Have Three Different Stations
- Ms. Z Station to give you a lesson of a day
- Independent Station: You will be working on your Homework, Waggle, and Next Generation Math
- Collaborative Station: You will work in a group setting to complete your assignment and get more support from Ms. Z
Lesson (1)
New Vocabulary: hypotenuse, legs, rise, run, slope, unit rate
Relationship is a special type of linear function, sometimes called a direct variation. It can be written in the form y = kx, where k is a nonzero constant. The constant k is called the constant of proportionality.
The graph of a proportional relationship is a straight line through the origin. The value of k is the slope of the line.
You need to understand that proportional relationships must represent two ratios that are equal. Give me several examples of ratios that form true proportions and ratios that do not form proportions. Have them explain their examples.
Proportion: 2/3=6/9
Not a proportion: 2/3≠6/12
